Our stirring program opens with Dudley Buck’s 1879 Festival Overture on The Star-Spangled Banner followed by Morton Gould’s rousing An American Salute. Marine veteran Mark Paradis of Taps for Veterans will sound Reveille before Maurice Ravel’s elegant Le Tombeau de Couperin, and Taps before Barber’s deeply moving Adagio for Strings. After an intermission, Aaron Copland’s grand Symphony No. 3 brings the afternoon to a triumphant, hopeful resolution.
